Saturday, October 18 was NWAMN Fall Work Day at the Beaver Lake Nursery Pond. It was a very successful day filled with lots of laughs and a few bumps and bruises. The day was spent with family and friends under a blue, blue sky with pleasant fall weather. A flat-bed trailer was positioned for us by the Corps of Engineers in which to place the trash we picked up along the lake’s edge. It soon became evident that we had more trash than trailer.

While some members were picking up trash, some were ‘bush-whacking’ through the vines looking for our Prothonotary bird boxes.

Some members cleaned out the bluebird, tree swallow and wood duck boxes on the levy surrounding the nursery pond.

And of course Carolyn was on a MISSION. . . a persimmon mission. She collected wild persimmons in order to make persimmon treats for our general meeting the following day.

After all the work was done, we all met at Vicky and Hal Johnson’s for a hot dog roast. What a wonderful day in the sun we had. Thank you to everyone who help make this day a success.
