Arkansas Master Naturalists welcome the River Valley Naturalists-in-Training.

This new chapter in Arkansas has started their training.  The River Valley Master Naturalists have a lot of energy and determination to make the chapter grow.  The volunteers will be initially helping at Lake Dardanelle State Park.  Other state parks in this area like Mount Magazine, Mount Nebo and Petit Jean State Park will benefit from their training also.  If you want more information about this chapter and their training, go to the How do I Join Page.

The class I attended with them was on Ichthyology taught by C.J. Gagen, Professor of Fisheries Science at Arkansas Tech University.  He gave an excellent talk bringing samples to identify.  Members only:  sign in and view the power point   Look in Chapter Information under Training and Education.

For the public, we have a links in our Web Links section for further information.  A great source of information Professor Cagen presented can also be found in the Fishes of Arkansas , a book by the Arkansas Game and Fish or visit their website for more information.

Arkansas Master Naturalists may sign up to attend their classes for advanced training by emailing Anne Massey in the Private Messages or call 501-666-1411 to reserve your space. It is a great way to meet the naturalist-in-training and welcome them to the group.
