All Hobbs Trails Now Open

After months of tree and brush removal following last January’s ice storm, all trails at Hobbs State Park – Conservation Area are again open. The last trail section to be cleared was the War Eagle Loop of the Hidden Diversity Multi-Use Trail. The War Eagle loop stretches 6 miles, and features a scenic overlook of the War Eagle Creek valley.

Hobbs trail maintenance supervisor, Al Knox, said, “Our volunteers have been steadfast in the trail clean-up effort. Hobbs suffered more than 100 trees per mile down on our 34 miles of trail. This monumental task would not have been completed in as short as time as it took without the assistance of so many wonderful volunteers.”

Hobbs offers 4 trails: 1 ½ mile Shaddox Hollow Nature Trail, Historic Van Winkle Trail, Pigeon Roost Trail, and the Hidden Diversity Multi-Use Trail. A 2-mile spur from the Hidden Diversity trail now extends to the new Hobbs visitor center located on Hwy 12 just east of the Hwy 12/War War Eagle Road intersection.
