The Program- The Arkansas Master Naturalist (AMN) program is a volunteer organization dedicated to educating its members and giving back to the community through volunteer work.
- Levels in the Master Naturalist Program are:
- Naturalist-in-training (NIT) - a person currently taking the 40 hours of required naturalist training
- Master Naturalist - a person who completes the required training.
- Certified Master Naturalist - a person who has:
- Performed 40 hours of volunteer work
- Acquired 8 hours of Advanced Training through an AMN chapter
- Paid $25.00 annual dues
Training – Northwest Arkansas Master Naturalists- Training in the Northwest Arkansas Master Naturalists (NWAMN) is provided by experts in fields such as Geology, Herpetology, Ornithology, Botany, Archeology, Aquatic Ecology, Entomology, Trail Construction and Maintenance, and the Art of Interpreting Nature. Our 2010 Naturalist-in-Training (NIT) class will offer sessions in these areas as well as other areas
- The classroom and outdoor instruction will be offered on Saturdays beginning January 23, 2010, and continuing into May. (Not every Saturday is used for training.)
- The complete schedule for the NWAMN classes will be available in the fall of 2009
First year cost is $160.00- $135 covers the cost of training, literature materials, t-shirt, and nametag
- 2010 annual dues, payable upon completion of the training, will be $25.00
