On a hot, humid Saturday in July, five members of “Stream Team 1” (Melanie Beck, Pat Lemmer, Denis Dean, Bruce Pertle, and Ralph Weber), one of three active NWAMN Stream Teams, met to sample War Eagle Creek. War Eagle Creek eventually flows into Beaver Lake, the source of drinking water for NW Arkansas – so we care a lot about its condition. Aided by Hal Johnson, NWAMN Stream Team Coordinator, and Dave Evans, NWA Stream Team Coordinator for AGFC, the five members did both chemical and biological analyses of the stream. After about three hours of work, the conclusion: War Eagle Creek is in good shape. Photos by Hal Johnson. |
