Bell Slough Trail Team out in the Cold Print

The Bell Slough Trail Team was out this morning, Saturday, December 5th.  You will all recall how cold it was...22 degrees.  We saw these ice formations everywhere.  They looked like ribbons of ice coming from the stems of dried up plants. They are called Frost Flowers.

We felt like we were in a winter wonderland.  Trail work can be enjoyable.  We never fail to see something new and different when we are at Bell Slough, an Arkansas Game and Fish Wildlife Refuge near Mayflower, AR.

Today we saw these Frost Flowers and an eagle.  How magnificent to see it soar over the ice filled field.

We enjoyed the company of two Naturalists- in-Training so that makes us a team of six now.
